If you've never seen an Alpaca farm, you'll be astonished at how tidy and adorable these llama relatives are. Krystal Acres has 70 acres of pasture and more than 40 alpacas. There is a public viewing point as well as a great little store selling a selection of alpaca products.

This attractive farmhouse and barn has a great little cottage industry shop where the farming couple sells local sheep products including wool yarn, hand-made bed comforters and sheepskin rugs. Also hand-crafted wrought-iron products. In the spring and summer, the farmers are happy to show children of all ages the wonders of their sheep, lambs, piglets and laying chickens.

Westcott Bay on San Juan Island's west side is famous for excellent oysters, clams and mussels in several varieties. You can pick-your-own from the beach of simply select them from tubs already harvested. Hours of operation are: Monday-Friday, 8:30-5:00; Saturday, 10:00-5:00; Sunday (May-Sept.), 11:00-5:00.
