Mt Baker is a familiar backdrop to many San Juan Island vistas. Located 31 miles east of Bellingham, it is the youngest active glaciated volcano and third highest mountain in Washington State. Mt Baker is a sought-after ski area in the Winter and popular with hikers in the Summer, when you can wander atop Artist Point in shorts and sandals in the snow.
